Hey just wondering if anyone else had had this before.

When over taking, going up hills etc generally when the car us under load for more than a few seconds and then back off completely, I have noticed after say 5-10seconds that there is a distinct oil smell come through into the car, from the air con vents?, it's not a burnt oily exhaust smell, it's like you take the filler cap off a warm engine kinda smell.

Can't imagine this is good to be breathing

Thoughts?.

Maybe check the PCV hoses. If they are leaking, you could get the smell you describe, but the engine would also run a tad lean.

Hi,
Did you get any joy with this problem? I've had it in a 2006 VE SV6, a 2008 SIDI SV6 and also in my 2010 VE V6 Calais. No answer from Holden and I now think it's in my MY15 Calais V V8.

damm, I completely forgot about this, at this stage I have found out nothing, I have told holden and they report that nothing is wrong, and they don't know what the cause could be. It is so intermittent, and almost impossible to recreate as required.

Could be oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold and burning off. Check for oil leaks

Check head gasket maybe , if there is a milky chocolate look to the oil and or discoloured coolant .

If nothing suspicious under the bonnet could it be the vacuum lines in the dash ? Change in vacuum at Full throttle could be allowing oily engine fumes up the vacuum lines...?
Do all your heater and AC controls and vents work properly?

Best way to find it is probably on a dyno, where you can give it full throttle with bonnet open and have someone stand nearby looking for smoke!?
