I've recently upgraded from a VR with a modifided audio set up and jumped into a SV6 with a dull audio set up for a 40k price tag? Reading through all the forums for a VZ stereo upgrade the job seems rather complex.
Seeing as a kick ass drive needs nothing less than good stereo to match, can anyone please give me some info and risks involved for upgrade. Also anyone know a good retailer to do the job.

    Thanks..... :ranting:

    G'day

I upgraded the stereo in my VY Berlina as good quality sound is a must to me!. I installed all pioneer gear, I had mine done in Kalgoorlie WA (and if anyone in Kal wants stereo work I would only go to Darryl from audiocom, great guy and great work), buy I have had no problems or dramas with it, when my deck was fitted we used and aftermarke fascia panel which is custom fit for the VY/VZ so you can fit a singel DIN head unit in nicely (on ebay from about $40, but installer only charged me $30 for mine anyway). The other great thing the installer did was wire the head unit to a plug that fits straight into the existing wiring loom on the car so if I ever want to take it out the onld unit will plug straight back in, the only down sides are there is no display in the dash anymore (recomend you turn this off prior to install, do this via your start up menu), and the steering wheel controls dont work (allthough this can be fixed with a thing called a CAT). All said and done I love the new set up (also have a 10inch sub in the back) and is 10 times better that the std one.

    Enjoy
