sv6 ve
I'm currently looking at buying a SV6 VE ute and I can decide wether or not to buy a series 1 or 2 as the series 2 in a ute is quite a bit more expensive but i can understand why. I know the timing chain belts on the series 1 are absolutely **** and usually need replacing and that the interior is a lot more dull & that the series 2 makes another 15kw. I was just wondering if the series 2 is worth it in the long run and if anyone could guide me to making a better decision
kind regards
ps - i am a p plater

Series 11 for certain, hundreds of minor/major changes, worth the extra $ in the long run.

IF you can’t stretch your budget for a series 2, get a series 1.5
They from very late 09 - 11.

Series 1 shape, but has the new SIDI engine, and the 6 speed auto, compared to the series 1 which has the dreaded HY7 timing chain problems, and only a 5 speed auto.

+1 for Series II.

I'm glad I stumped up the extra for one.

The VE series1 SIDI is still prone to timing chain problems. Personally if you're OK budget wise I go series II but look for LFX engine not LLT, I'm not sure if LFX is immune from Timing chain problems or not - LFX would be 2011 or later. Check the build plate for engine code, and of course Service History, Service History, Service History.
