This car has been nothing but trouble since I got it 12 months ago, had to replace the entire cooling system, radiator, water pump etc, then the starter motor went, and I’ve also had to get the coil pack and spark plugs all replaced, now I’ve got a new problem, I’ve got a Powertrain error flashing up, the car is idling very low and very rough, and now the whole car is shaking when I accelerate, and tonight the car decided it had enough and went into limp mode on me and proceeded to shut off as I got off the highway. It started again and I got it home, shaking like a Mack truck, I’m so over it but I’m clueless as to what it could be, I’m thinking maybe timing chain but anyone with some knowledge of these cars have any further insight? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Tim

First thing is to get a scan tool on it which will show up the error codes.
Powertrain error should throw the codes and will give you an idea of where to go from there.

new and old ,because the material had worn, the chain had became slack, and caused the bottom chain to jump, you cant see this unless you pull the front cover off

sorry mate, no update yet, got in booked in to get scanned this weekend, it’s funny it runs smoothly when at high speeds but idling or taking off the mark it struggles and shakes quite a bit, I’ve also noticed when idle the rpm’s are constantly dropping to 500 and then the car shakes and rattles to rev them back up above 1000 then it just keeps doing this continually, does that shed any light on an obvious issue? Sorry I’m not car savvy at all haha
