I finally wrapped up the JHP gauge install. Part of this project was to swap the instrument cluster overlay to match my gauges. Swapping a 2005 GTO cluster into my 2004 GTO would have been very difficult and time consuming and I didn't want the mileage screwed with. So I bought a used 2005 cluster on eBay for $60 USD.

I took the cluster apart and removed the needles and overlay. Then, I removed the cluster from my car and did the swap. Before I pulled the cluster, I made note of the needle positions so I could get them back on accurately, or close to it. Very easy swap. After that, it was a matter of programming my cluster for the higher red line of the 2005 overlay, and while I was in there, I turned the factory shift light on and set the RPMs for it and I rescaled the temperature gauge to act more like a real gauge. The program is available for free... VZClusterMod is it and it on LS1GTO dot com. All you need to do is buy a cable or make your own, download the program and have at it.

Now everything matches and the shift light is pretty cool. I'd like to fiddle with the cluster a little more and turn the lighting intensity up a bit. There are things you can do but what I have done is the most important to me.

I also installed the 2006 GTO power door lock switch kit from JHP... no more having to reach for the knob to lock or unlock the car.

The switch will lock and unlock the doors when the doors are shut, not when they are open. The switch lights up and gets wired to the BCM. Easy install.

I was actually going to pull my instrument cluster and send it to a guy to do the swap for me but he kept telling me he was swamped with other work. I finally decided to muster up the courage to do the swap myself and it came out great.

The door lock switch was cake. JHP provided great instructions for the installation. I used Posi Lock taps to make all the connections instead of the included wire taps JHP provided.

I see the kit just has the button. You seem to have the four button set up with the two blanking inserts. Did that come with the kit?

This is the door lock kit. Might take a look for my Cross8.

That is the kit but it does not come with the bezel as pictured. According to Geoff, that bezel has been discontinued for a few years now. So they supply a 4 button bezel with the kit, which will come with 2 blanks to install if you are only using the traction control and door lock buttons. They do have and on/off button kit and if you can find it, a factory Bluetooth button or kit so you can make use of all 4 slots.

Thank you! I really try to keep it and my other vehicles clean. I am ridiculous with the GTO, I will admit that. But, to this day it still looks and smells brand new.

Now that I think of it, there is a parts yard here in the US that has the bezel and buttons for sale... $30 USD. I found it this morning. Looks OK from what I can tell. If you want, I will post a link to it.

Nah. That’s $60 (au) and then postage.
I hopefully could find something here.
