VE SS
Hi,

(sorry if there is already a thread) My question is in regards to replacing my transmission in my 2009 Holden Commodore VE SS which has a 6L80 9cva gearbox in it. Can I swap it out for a second hand 6L80 7cva (2007 transmission)? I understand that the transmission must be recoded to my 2009 vehicle, and I have contacted a local holden service center and they have advised me that they can flash the transmission. My major concern is, will I need to change out any of the computer components that are in the 7cva, eg swap my TCM from my current gearbox into the replacement 7cva box? or is it a straightforward install and flash?

Cheers.

Well if you swapped your TCM into the other box it would not need to be flashed.
The ECU expects to find 9CVA when it talks to the TCM so if you put in a 7CVA it will throw DTC codes.
So all the dealer is going to do is flash the 7CVA TCM with 9CVA code.
Swapping the TCM will have the same effect.
