vs v8 ute
Hi people

I have a vs ute with a stroker 355 in it, but now want a sedan.I was wondering if it is possible to swap a stock vt 5 litre engine into the vs ute and put the stroker engine into the vt sedan.I know the vt is sequential injection but the engine is essentially the same right. Also what would be involved in the tuning side.
Cheers

I would say yes to the engine swap, but a 'eco' memcal for the VS with VT engine, and full custom dyno tune with new injectors for VT with stroker.
You must keep distributor with each car (not engine) and I would recommend the same for injectors. or leave VT injectors with VT engine, and get hi-flow injectors for stroker.

I could be wrong, Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can confirm.

Vt ecu can only run a maf and you cant change it.
Not a good swap imo.
Much heavier car too,id go for a vr/vs hsv.
vn-vp your ecu will plug in just have to mod the harness for vr/vs obd2 port
got a couple plugs here.
Anything up to vs series 2 is pretty straight forward, stay away from vt
as they run maf only and not alot of options for vt and vs series 3
id go back to a series 2 harnesss and run the map sensor.
Much easier to tune if running the 424 auto ecu too.

My VS exec Sedan Runs a 1999 VS Ute engine Harness, from december 1998 onward holdens ran the Sequential injected v8 engines that were found in the VT's(VM Prefix on the Engine Number) they use the VT 5lt computer

not all VS series 3, like alot of people say, run this setup its just the utes and statesman built from that month onwards(theres not many 1999 VS statesman, but they do exist)

also my VS did Run MAF, but i have since had it tuned MAFLESS, and it still Runs the Sequential Injection, on a VT Type Delco computer

you just need to find a tuner that knows what there doing, mine runs VT spec Dizzy etc

Can be done by kalmaker, but he has a tune already and wants it
all transferable, thats why i said stay away from vt sequential.
The software i use is miles ahead of kalmaker but dosent allow
to go maffless on vt so more the software mate not the tuner.
Why pay $1200 or so for a tune again? and also he has to purchase a kalmaker rt ecu
that needs serial cables etc and isnt compatible with new laptops
because everything is usb now days.
Imo if you were going vt id rather go the ls1 better bang for $$$.
Otherwise as i said above keep it the same model vr/vs makes
it a whole lot easier to transfer.

There is a mafless tune available for the sequential VT 5 litre.
I've got one! Apparently, the first on ever done on a sequential VT 5 litre.
Contact - Scott, at Chip Control in Sunbury Vic.

I don't think you read the 1st post
Right- engine swap
There a issues as vt don't run a map
Different ecu etc so its not a good
Option. He wants to use his current ecu
And tune, no bloody good paying
For another ecu plus retune
And the ute will need a tune
Also to suit the vt roller cam.
Also he is in nsw and I no the only
Tuners that will tune a vt charge
Quite alot as no one wants to do them.
I hardly see the point going
Maffless when a maff tune with
Modded bin can be just as effective.

I was just responding to your posts saying the 5 litre doesn't allow to run mafless.
Also in the above post you say, quote "There a issues as vt don't run a map". Mine has one..
