    Hey guys,

My globe behind my tacho has blown. I was wondering whether there is a simple way of replacing this globe without having to dismantel the whole dash.

I've got a service manual, but it says that I need to remove the centre consol etc, including the steering wheel!!!

There has to be an easier way.

    Thanks for the help guys.

The instrument cluster comes out quite easily. The black plastic shroud around it is retained by 2 screws just above the cluster and a whole lot of clips. Just undo those two screws and pull the shroud out. It will require a little force but be careful not to break the plastic clips off and pull it out squarely... not at an angle. Then there are two screws retaining the cluster. Just undo those and pull the cluster towards you to remove it.

You might also find that the tacho light isnt blown at all. Often over time the contacts on the cluster connectors oxidize and dont make contact any more, causing lights to go out or gauges to stop working. While you've got it out, regardless of whether a bulb is blown or not, you should give the contacts on the back a light rub with some wet or dry sandpaper to remove the oxidisation. This will ensure your lights and gauges stay working.

    Good luck :)

I would suggest to change all 4 bulbs in the cluster, there the cheap 5V (or 3V) bulbs. Save you the trouble later.
