Hi everyone, just after some advice for my vp
The tail light and reverse light sockets are all corroded and need replacing
I found a pair for the brakes/parkers but having trouble finding the reverse sockets.
Is there a difference? Can the same sockets for the brake lights be used for the reverse lights or blinkers?
Thanks in advance

You can still buy new harnesses. They are the same as VT-VZ. Well, I’m pretty sure they are. I might have one in the shed for comparison for you. $30.

The sockets are specific to clone types that do the different things. It is that way so the wrong globes are not used by accident and wattages are correct as well.

Even if the VZ harness doesn’t fit, you could cut the sockets and then solder/heat shrink the wiring in.

Ignore the brown and red wire I have added on the loom.

In the 90s I purchased terminals for sockets from GMH. They may still be available even aftermarket.
You will always get some water in there always had issues blowing globes, a few years ago I managed to get hold of new updated sockets with gold plated terminals but in a short time because of moisture the plating came off causing issues so. the solution is conductive grease on terminals.....stops corrosion and promotes conductivity even when corroded. Never had an issue since using it

Thanks for the replies...

I purchased new sockets
2x brake/parkers with the double contact and 3 wires (yellow, brown, black)
And 3x single contact to replace the corroded ones with a black and green wire coming from the socket
Now I've wired them up but for some reason keep blowing the 15amp Parker light fuse which is also the radio fuse and now I'm lost on what I've done wrong
The wires were getting pretty hot too so I took the fuse out
Also the original wires in the loom are a different colour wires for the parker/brake sockets I bought

The ones on the loom are black, light blue, and brown
The ones on the new sockets are yellow, brown and black
Does it make a difference where the yellow and brown wires go? Tjats the only thing I can think of that's causing it to short out

Sweet, thanks il have to go over it again tomorrow and check I havnt missed something.
Also I noticed For some reason the left side had the earth wire coming from the old socket hooked onto one of the tail light screws...
Not sure if that has anything to do with it
The loom still has the cut earth wire where they've just taped it up
Im guessing someone had dramas with this in the past

"For some reason the left side had the earth wire coming from the old socket hooked onto one of the tail light screws... "- thats to fix a dodgy earth.
Make sure the other 2 wires (light blue and brown) aren't bare and shorting to earth somewhere. Especially brown if the fuse blows when you turn on the parkers.

Okay so I think I've located the issue....
I unwrapped the tape and found the loom completely rooted further down towards the plug...wires melted, touching, intertwined, you name it. Somebody in the past has tried to do a dodgy fix by the looks of it and it's finally s%$t itself.
Tried the loom I fixed up for the drivers side onto the passenger side and its working perfect.
Now to re wire the passenger side loom properly from scratch
Thanks again for the help fellas, much appreciated
Il update once I've finished and tested the new loom, hopefully it will be the end of that problem
