hey.. initially thought it was my steering rack, but my steering hasnt been compromised as a result of this....it used to be while turning left it made a tapping(can feel it and hear it), then it progressed to going forwards and turning left... it only occurs while going over 30-40km/h but i noticed the brakes squeal like a pig under 30km/h im beginning to think its one of the calipers as when braking the tapping disappears, its getting worse thats for sure.. i might retire the car untill i can figure out why... the master brake cyclinder isnt leaking and looks to be in good condition... i can get 2001 HSV calipers for free as my boss is getting bigger ones, would it be much work to modify them to fit?? was also considering upgrading to slotted rotors at the front.... i went with the cheapest possible pads and rotors over a year ago and they've done nothing but squeaked.. but now this sounds soo bad im embarrased anyone got ideas's??? cheers
hrm... any way to be certian??? should i take it to a shop to get diagnoised (i hate shops) im confident i could do the work my self finding the problem is another thing
hrmm at low speeds its non exsistant, dosnt matter if the cars in drive or netural.. might trying killing the ignition while moving at say 60-70 see if its power related, and also will remove the wheel and take a squiz
nope, i can feel it when i rest my foot on the foot rest (auto) and the chassis is vibrating feels like its comming from right behind the firewall near my feet
nope.... its the same when going straight and turning... does make a single light vibration when changing direction, but i believe thats normal
Tighten your wheel nuts!! nah, i reckon take your caliper off and try to move the rotor side to side, up and down and give it a spin to test the bearing. it could be a busted tie rod end, i stuffed one when i lowered my vl (hitting it with the hammer to get it out) and it made heaps of noise i had to change it straight away. if you hear a noise when turning left it would normally indicate right wheel bearing. and if the brakes squeal change your pads already!
nah pads squealed from pretty much a month after changing em.. got plans for probbly 14" slotted rotors that come with pads yeah i recon it would be the right wheel bearing as braking is un affected and so is steering..
ohhh if only you knew how RIGHT you were.... finally got round to ripping it apart (hadnt looked at it yet) noticed the wheel nutz WERNT TIGHT... i remembered back to last week where my mate was over and he put the wheel back on..... *slaps head* anyway tightened them and problem gone....
yeah... just didnt get round to looking at it... had heaps of study to do oh well lucky it wasnt anything serious
