Opinions needed. Not thinking of doing anything just asking. 82 DEGREE THERMOSTAT TO SUIT ECOTEC, L67 & BUICK ENGINES - Mace Engineering Group
Here's my opinion..... A lower than spec thermostat will obviously reduce the engine temp, but will also cause the engine temp signal being sent to the ECU to be too low. This normally causes the engine to be over fuelled (like the choke is on) and prevent the ECU from running in closed loop.
as above it's fine, closed loop comes in around 65c, helps to lower the thermo fan cut in temps a bit to make use of it, ive run one in mine for years with no difference in fuel economy at all
12dec seamed a bit much to me as in I had a corolla and dropped it 3dec for Queensland weather. Also I liked the idea of it opening earlier so the coolant could flow better and more often. I`m about to do a coolant flush so I think I will put 1 in I think I would have liked a 87dec. Like I open up the heater tap once a week to stop it sceizing up and letting the coolant to flow around. Thanks Guys
yep, i dropped my fan cutin from 104c to 95c for low and 109 to 100c for high, seems to run good and doesn't cut in all the time.
