testing coils

    gday fellas....motor is running a bit rough and im pretty sure im due for new coils....but could anybody tell me how i can test the coils with an ohmmeter as im not too crash hot with that kind of stuff....

    do you have a gregories or other workshop manual ? they explain it there. you just measure the resistance across both sets of terminals and compare your result to the normal reading. even if u don;t have a manual , test resistance across each coil and see if they are all the same. if 1 is different from the other 2 its probly the dud one.

    from memory 5-7k accross the top
    only a few 3-10 or so under neath and use a test light on the dfi module terminal and turn car over and light for a flashing test light.

    oh ok sweet...ill give that a go....there was another forum about testing coils but i had no idea what he was goin on about....

    so you just test the top terminals where the leads go?

    the dfi module is the sorta base looking thing their all bolted to yeh??

    test accross 1 coil at a time.
    top pins for leads are the high value.
    the sockets inder the coil packs are the low value and the pins sticking up out of the dfi moudule(flat base bit) will make a test light flash when the engine is cranked.
