yep no snout. I dont recommend removing the snout from the auto starter as it may not be as well supported internally. but its something Ive wondered about before. :)

If it cranks over its not the neutral start switch from the auto so you've got that right - go back to the basics and check all connections, plug engaged in the dis? all the earth wires on and to clean connections - these things need extra earths in my opinion, thats why frost plugs used to flog out from electrolysis

Thanks i tould my mate to check the same things but he is lazy so i will be doing it when i get home from work i think its a basic problem it probly has to do with him connecting all the plugs as he tends to take short cuts my mate

if theres no spark most likely the 2 plugs by the battery that feed power to the dfi and injectors or youve poped one of the fuses for them check for 12 volts at the injectors and dfi module with the key on

no there is too many differences in the v8 and v6 boxes to use them on the opposite motor.

and also to the guy who wanted to run a vn computer in a vr. it is simply plug and play.

but you need to swap the loom that goes from the computer to the plugs over by the battery. so the complete engine loom. takes a couple hours but its cheaper/ easier than getting a manual vr one.

Updating my post on modifying bellhousing to use auto starter. Went to bolt it in and the snout is snagging on the step on the flywheel so at this stage its a no go. Will look at machining the step for clearance.

Hahaa, got the step turned off till it was just cutting the very outside edge of the ballancing drillings on the face of the flywheel, thats a heap of weight off where it counts the most, plenty of clearance for the starter (didn't have to grind off as much as i did lol ) and it works a treat.

    Quick question

Just wondering can a wagon tailshaft be shortened to fit a sedan?

yes you can swap the rearward part of the tailshaft ( from the uni joint back) for a sedan one and it will fit a sedan

the manual starter looks much like a geared reduction setup.

machining the outside of the flywheel can only be a good thing :D

i might have a spare manual starter floating around but you seem to have sorted your issues

    1. Yeah it does mate, did the bearings on a customers T5 a couple of weeks ago (one of the easiest gearsacks i've ever done) and had a good gander at the starter - left it bolted up to the block - while i was at it.

    2. ohh yeahh!! the further away from the fulcrum (centre) weight is the heavier it is.

    3. Cheers man but touch wood its sorted. At least if it sh**s itself replacement auto starters are easy enough to find and reasonably priced compared to manual ones. Was a right prick of a job though, aint called a BELLhousing for nothing. Missus came out to the shed at one stage to tell me "F**k thats LOUD" took me earmuffs off (not often i wear them) and said "what?" so she repeated it " Tell me something i don't bloody know woman" still got me tea cooked that night tho' shes a good one putting up with my crap :spot on:

Hi guys i had two vns , one's is a write off and my one.
The write off one was manual so i have changed motor and box and used the loom again on the auto motor as the vn write off had a newer loom wihich wasn't interchangeable Any way my problem is How do i wire up the revers lights? i have the auto wires reverse wires just hanging there revers which wires do i connect up to the revers switch on the box?

AS there is 3 wire on the auto car and 2 wire only on the manual?
