    I got a set of addidas ones, black, leather, nice and grippy so the sweat doesn't ruin your form

    Maybe I'm just weird haha.

    I'm noticing difference with the increase in training. I.e. how hard each session is along with more abs sessions. I think combining that with more meals/ healthier eating through the day is working really well.

    Have you felt that your wrists have weakened by wearing them all the time? I've just heard people say if you wear them constantly you can lose wrist strength.

    Introduction

    G'day folks,

    Only just noticed this thread on here and thought I'd intoduce myself and my regiment. I'm 44 and gave up smoking and started running and doing weights about 2 years ago. Played sport as a young bloke and cricket into my mid 30's but stopped exercising up until I was about 42. Have had a reasonably active job as a Vet Nurse and running my own Pet Ambulance business. My diet is not that great although I don't drink I love my biscitts and chips...hopeless so have a reasonable diet but not excellent. When I first gave up smoking I weighed 76kg at 5ft9", maxed out at 80kg a few months later and now back down to 77kg. I'm currently running about 20-25km a week at 5m25sec/km and working out 45-1hr 3 times a week. My goal was a City2Surf that I knocked off this year in 77 minutes so chuffed.

    Has taken 2 years but now finally starting to see some results. I do abs everytime I work out (unfortunately results still covered by a small layer fat (bloody chips). I reckon the thing that is important is mixing it up. Don't do the same things all the time...watch what others do and give them a try. Oh just thought I'd also mention that no one is ever to old for a solid weights routine. My Dad is in his 70s and still does his weights 3 times a week and he is built like a brick shithouse and stronger than I'll ever be.

    I can't imagine wearing gloves in the gym haha. it would be a bit like drinking a cruiser at a bbq.

    Uhhh, no. It would be like shagging a hooker without a condom...

    Get MASSIVE calices, sweat ruins your grip etc. They're not made for nothing

    I wear gloves for the above reasons also and hate cruisers.

    Nah I only wear them for deadlifts and shrugs.

    Are we thinking of a different thing?

    By wrist straps I mean the ones you wrap for wrist support. I.e. keeping your wrist dead straight.

    Are you referring the straps that you wrap around the bar/dumbbell to grip the weight better?

    Cause I use those on shrugs.

    I'd never do dead lifts though, I like my lower back how it is : )

    It would appear we are. Yeah I don't use wrist straps then. Why would you use them?




    Also deadlifts are your friend.

    EDIT: tempted to post video of me doing deadlifts haha

    People use wrist straps for shoulder and chest press mostly.

    It keeps your wrist perfectly straight by applying pressure to the joint.
