Yes but it's not been that hot and dry for that long in Victoria since records began, it makes a big difference to how well things burn, try throwing a spark onto grass on a 32c day then a 42c day there's a huge difference in the chances of it catching fire. Like 100x more likely

Theres 3 elements to a fire. Fuel, Oxygen, and ignition. The arsonist supplys the fuel and the ignition. Sure there was help, but take out the spark, and no problem

The arsonist doens't provide the FUEL! Unless he planted the rainforests, all the grass and everything else. On the topic of the fuel, the hotter it is the less moisture is in the "fuel" therefore it's easier to light a fire and it's easier for it to spread. Especially with winds how they were!

For example, try lighting a fire like that in the middle of winter when the top is 12 degrees! It will be damn difficult!

When they say a fire needs 3 things and mention fuel, they dont mean the accelerant! They actually mean whats burnt or is being burned! If you mean fuel like petrol that is the accelerant, and that's how they trace them. But in Summer you wont need anywhere near as much accelerant to get the same sort of bush fire. Actually, chances are you wont get one as big as in the summer months.

I wasn'd debating that if there wasn't an arsonist then it wouldn't have happened, but you must admit due to the conditions it made the bushfire worse. If you still dont believe that go do a CFA or MFB course. Or even just talk to a firey.

And yes, bushfires in Australia have existed for centuries, it's natures plan. The aboriginies knew it, even before everyone else started settling here.

Stealthy, the fires werent all delib lit.

What made the fires worse was the fact the dumb **** hippy wankers passed laws that did not allow clearing od dead tree's etc, after 20 years of this it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know how potent these fires are. Few years ago we were fighting a fire where dead wood is still allowed to be taken, took us hours to control and minimal damage was done. Just 15 minutes down the road, where this cannot happen, fires burnt like crazy, these were the anakie bushfires. I dont give a **** what anyone says, these fires could have been reduced if dead wood was still allowed to be removed and trees could be felled around buildings with a proviso to replant away from the house.

These fires had nothing to do with climate change, they had to do with stupid government laws and harsh climate conditions and in some cases idiots lighting them.
