It will be interesting to see what the Police put into their fleet now.

I went into a Holden dealership close to me it was 50% Holden Colorado and 50% astras (new car sales) used cars probarly had about two dozen mixed makes/models

VFII MY17 SV6 (LFX) Sportwagon (SOLD)
My ex-wife (she's German) drives an Astra. She'll be pissed off that they are dropping the Astra too.....

I'm probably wrong on this, but wasn't the VE from 2008 to around 2010 a German car, the body??
Does the VF I and II have a German chassis (or body)? I ask this because the VF II has the battery in the cargo area, which I first noted when my bestie bought a VE in 2009 and we, somewhat comically, went looking for the battery!! :p

I learnt to drive in an auto Astra in 1989; for lessons, my (late) sister travelled with me all the time with her right hand "at the ready" on the handbrake wherever we went...If Sissy could see me now, I don't worry too much about handbrakes! :p

  • BMW twin-turbs
  • VW Golf and Passat
  • Mercedes Benz (custom model for VicPol)
  • A few of the German Commodores (wagons)
  • MB Vito
  • Renault (name?? Similar in size to Vito)
...even some Toyotas!

All seen around Melbourne just about every day (particularly Bourke Street where Police have a big base).

And don't forget the Tesla model X . This really isn't a big surprise , all I can hope is it drives the prices up of the existing Aussie made Commodores . Oh and lets not forget that this website now has a life span of the last running Commodore , Lest we Forget

No... VE/VF were built on the Zeta platform, which was designed here by Holden.
5th gen Camaro's also built on the Zeta platfom.

I don't think anybody should be surprised by this development; the German-made Commodore has been a flop with Australians since it landed, many describing it as a "squashed-roof Corolla" and overshadowed by cheaper, better-specified Euro rigs like the VWs and Audis. My dealer was one of the big names that cancelled all forward orders of the Commodore, selling only 3 in 9 months to old European retirees who thought they were buying German prestige. Fail: taking a German car and smacking on the Australian-born Commodore badge is a bloody cheek.

The next announcement I think will be of Holden pulling out of Australia entirely. This has been mooted several times since June this year.
Holden can't "pull out" of Aus. But yeah, it is a sign of things to come...

I had a 67 xr, 68 xt, xw 69 Falcons. None of these had batteries in the boot.
What ford did you have, that had the battery in the boot?
