Not a lot happening, fitted some new rear brakes as the old ones were down to the backing plate. Fitted new Brembo rotors and Ceramic Plus pads from BNT. Cleaned and lubricated the calliper slide pins whilst it was all out. It's stops properly now (without any grinding noises :hmmm: )

It's been a while so a quick update.

Fitted the new LIM with MAT sensor a few weeks ago with some new alloy intake gaskets.

Just sorted the wiring for the MAT sensor and started playing with the tune a bit to suit. Now running on 98ron fuel too as Caltex NZ have no dropped 95 and seem to be using 98 exclusively for there premium fuel :D

first run with the MAT sensor hooked up, was seeing temps in the mid 50's and hit 77°C giving it a boot full on the current tune which unfortunately would have been boost limiting and pulling timings with those sorts of IAT's. Adjusted the tune and went for another run up the road. This time it had about 20 minutes to heat soak, started her up and things were hot.... Idle air temps settles at 77°C sitting stuck in traffic and once I actually managed to sink the boot properly IAT's climbed to 98°C but I had to back out just after getting into 2nd. No doubt it probably would have gotten a little warmer had it kept going. For now I've set the tune to progressively pull timing from 104°C onward, that should keep it fairly safe now.

I also took out a little AE, I'd been using extra fuel to reduce knock retard with the 95ron fuel, not such an issue with 98 so now the hesitation it had when giving it a decent hit of throttle is gone too.

Next up is to fit the 25mm manifold spacer which has been ported to match the LIM and then some high ratio rockers and see what effect that has on boost and IAT's. I fitted up a 2bar MAP sensor last year with my data logger and with the current mods I'm seeing about 11psi of boost in the LIM. Not bad for a 3.4" pulley :D

Been a long time since I updated this. Not much has changed (except injectors, O2 sensors, larger intake elbow, insulated fuel lines. Also fitted new rear brakes (rotors and pads) new front struts and strut top bushes and of course the strut brace) Recently I changed back to regular type plugs (Autolite 606's) and Bosch sport leads

And I added this a few weeks ago

The changed the clean air side of the factory PCV system. Since then the oil consumption this engine has previously suffered from has fairly much completely disappeared. Been about 2500km since the last oil change with no noticeable loss in oil in the sump.

A big thanks to VS_Pete who checked the fit of the Elite Engineering Clean Air separator fit on the L67/Ecotec oil filler cap for me.

Still to come is a new balancer and LS style MAF as I have exceeded the flow of the standard MAF at just over 5200rpm so it's leaving a fair bit on the table.....

Looks good. I used to own one of those, l67 too although completely stock but sold it a while back.

Did you find the larger elbow made a noticeable difference? If so, what rpm range was effected the most?

Keen to hear about the LS MAF change - planning to do that myself. Are you going for the alloy or the black plastic style?

Not sure on the elbow as I have basically maxed out the MAF so no before and after results in that regard. On the flip side, I have a full twin V8 exhaust, and 1.9 rockers which in theory improve the engines ability to breathe and yet I'm seeing 11psi in the LIM with a 3.4" pulley which is only supposed to give you 10psi on a stock engine so to me that means that the mods on the intake side of the blower have improved it's ability to draw air in.

I recently did a LS1 MAF upgrade on a mates cammed L67 and it worked well using the Enhanced tune from The1 on the PCMHakcing forum. I have a MAF from a slightly later model L77 or L98 I believe but the principles will be the same, modify the tables and then tune the bugger using a WB O2 sensor.

Finished off the catch can a while back but never updated the thread so here goes :)
file.php

file.php

All seems to be working well. Only a very small amount of oil in the catch can after some 2500km and the car is driving really well atm.

Update: I think I like it, it's growing on me. Now you know it's got an exhaust on it. You don't notice it at all when cruising but give it a little bit and it wakes up with a noticeable rumble.

Not bad for a stock factory V8 system as an upgrade for the V6 :)

out of curiosity , will a stock factory V8 system bolt up to the Alloytec V6 system as shown on the L67 .

Not sure mate, not had much to do with the Alloytec engines.
