to be fair, if you fix your own system and just regas there is nothing to be warranted. I understood if it leaked it was my problem.

what could an 18 year old car with a common V6 possibly get. Maybe 2k tops. I spent 2 k in the last year with oil leaks, struts etc. I am keeping for a few years.

dont bother then if that's the way you value your car. Cheaper than paying for taxi fair's when you add it all up, more convenient also.

Value is only important if you are planning to sell soon and recoup your money as much as you can. If keeping it, by all means get it repaired. Depends what the issue is but age and maintenance are just features of aircon, and likewise, non working will be miserable to drive at times and a hard sell when you need to.
