LSA Clubby vs VF2 Redline is a totally different equation to Gen-F Clubby vs VF2 Redline, though.

I was in this position end of last year and chose the 340 R8 Clubby. Runout special.
Coming from a 2013 VF1 Redline it was a excellent car but it's no HSV.
Paid less than 70k for the R8 it made no sense choosing a Redline again for $8-9k more??
Totally up to you though.

Pondering a similar question myself looking at buying a VFII GTS, but trying to justify the $35K extra and higher Maintenance and running costs
I can handle the $6k every 40k for brakes and I know you don't buy a Supercharged V8 for the fuel economy but reviews have the actual usage at mid 20l/100km against the posted 15.3/100
Sales guy suggested a decent tune will bring that back to 12-13l/100km.

Can anyone comment on experience?

I don't see how you'd be happy with a Redline if your budget can justify GTS money.
The performance just isn't comparable ... I exaggerate a bit, but it's a bit like umming & ahhing over whether to buy a new M3 or a 328i.
I can see that certain things might not be what you want, and you might drop it back to a Clubbie R8; but then they're not that much cheaper anymore either, it probably depends on what deal you can get.

I used to have a Monaro that got 23-25l/100km and it got a bit expensive as a regular drive
