As some of you know almost a year ago a container ship ran aground on the Astrolabe reef just off the coast of Mount Maunganui, close to where I live. Any on that container was beautiful Holden Monaro and I have always wondered what ever happened to that car. I seen a report on the car on TV3 news, heres a report. Then Tonight I finally found out what happened to it. I felt pretty darn **** seeing that photo of the wreak, I cannot imagine what the owner must have gone through.
This makes me cry, especially after I watched classic rests before with a story about a 57 Buick getting written off in transit, THAT also made me shed a tear....
Pretty upsetting for the owner, i would be devastated if it was me. I take it the container has been floating around the ocean for the last 9 months?
It almost seems a shame to crush it up for scrap, but what else can be done with it? Its really tragic. Some Ford enthusiasts when jumping for joy this car was wreaked on Face Book. i wrote a rather abusive comment towards them and some Holden boys chimed in, But why does it always have to Ford followers that hate so much. I mean I know a few Holdens lovers that bag Fords but they would never write something public like that or say it to someone's face?
Exactly...it was someone's pride and joy at one point. And its another classic gone - while I'm a Holden guy, it'd be just as much of a tragedy if it were say, a GTHO Phase 3. Either way I can only imagine how the owner must be feeling - I'd be upset enough seeing my car (an Astra) in this state, let alone a Monaro!
