Hi all,

When you lift up the boot/trunk, usually you only need a bit of lifting action and the boot will then lift up automatically the rest of the way. I just realised tonight that this is no longer the case for my car, and was wondering why, and if there is anything I can do about it?

How much force do u need to apply to lift it?
Hinges might need some lubrication!

Only a bit of force, like lifting a thick novel.

Does it have a gas strut or a spring to help lift the lid?
It may be worn out or it may have broken.

It has gas, because I can hear it when I press the open button.

Is there a way of fixing it (without taking it to Holden and being charged $50,000)?

you need to get new struts or re-gas like suggested earlier
