The blue strap hooks onto a belt you wear around your waist so that you can keep tension on while walking backwards and pushing forwards on the handle when it is in its lower position, keeping the trencher blade vertical. Ideally it takes two runs, one at 45° then another at 90°. Cuts through hard clay and thin pan (did so right there).

The blade looks to be a purchaseable attachment (needs a grunty chainsaw). The trolley is an ingenious one pin slide-and-turn-to-lock affair, with a remote throttle that you slide over the chainsaw's and velcro in place.

Shed to house, around 30 metres in about three hours. Just have to hand dig a couple of half-metre stretches under two storm water pipes (which I knew to avoid cutting into).
