To think as a Vic driver in QLD, I have discovered QLD is 412.34% worse then Victoria when it comes to drivers not indicating, sitting in the right hand lane doing 30% less than the sign posted speed limit and other assorted driving related offences that are never enforced; it's a scary thought really!

Judging by your post, she was stationary before you were there, so she was already in the roundabout. You entered illegally, you are meant to give way to prevent an accident.

There is no such thing as give way to your right on a roundabout.

Perhaps a rehash on roundabout laws might be in order for yourself?

I didn't read it that way minux, I read it as a fat cow was sitting at roundabout entry- not yet entered round about stuffing her face with donut. She didn't enter roundabout until after he was already in in so him being in the roundabout first she should have given way to him and. Or is one expected to sit around and wait for a fat cow to decide she has finished donut just incase she decides to enter roundabout?

Jules, technically speaking, the roundabout entry is not at the entrance. It canbe 20-30 metres behind. The single solid white line leading to a roundabout in legal terms is the "entrance" to a roundabout.

For polite terms, the fat mess should have waited.

I'm in Victoria, and i barely ever have any issues with people in round-abouts, other than the prick that doesn't bother to indicate left so you wait ages for him to just turn off, preventing my 560050kws of hoon rage from entering.

I was going to say you were wrong...but.. you're right, there technically is no "give way to the right" rule oneroundabouts, despite what my driving instructor tought me years ago. But as the rule is to give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout, and you are only allowed to drive around on the left, giving way to the right makes perfect sense.

Goes to show that despite the fact I have read a fair bit of the vicroads website I have still missed sections, no wonder the average joe who doesn't care about driving doesn't know the rules.

I heard another reason why people don't indicate before changing lanes and turning. They are lazy. And if you are lucky they hit the indicator switch while turning resulting in one flash halfway through the turn.

Point taken. But do you give way to stationary cars sitting waiting to turn across you? Does anybody?

Nope but if they do pull out, I make sure I can stop so that I am not at fault.

It does, but then it defeats how a roundabout SHOULD work. The reason it is not give way to the right is so it flows. That is why roundabouts fail so hard, people do not know how to use them.

Minux - They flow okay with the give way to the right rule, Provided EVERYONE abides by it. Problem is, most people don't pay enough attention at all.

How is any of the thread unrelated?

The only unrelated post in the entire thread, funnily enough, is your own.

Ha ha , you theory works a charm , i copped 2 today . First one was a lady making a right hand turn into the road i was turning out of .She decided to cut the corner I slowed down but wasn't going to stop as she was on my side of the road .She **** herself and decided to abort the mission , swerved hard right , went up the gutter , drove along the nature strip then pulled back onto the road and cut off a bus in the process .
The other one was a young guy in a ute , just before a sharp corner decided to make a right hand turn without indicating into a driveway that wasn't there, he hit the gutter and nearly got cleaned up by a 4wd.
