Hi all, Just acquired a '95 VR series 2 and have noticed the thermos refuse to engage at all. I let the engine temp gauge reach the last increment before going into the red and still not even the main fan engages. The vehicle had received a light tap to the front prior to me getting it as the reinforcement bar behind the front bumper had been pushed back and was lightly pressing against the A/C fan which was preventing it from spinning.... no damage apart from the two wires into the fan motor had been skinned and the copper core was showing (Dead Short) i'd suspect here. i've checked all fuses but as i dont have a service manual yet i'm not sure where to look for the related relay/s which control the fans. Can anyone suggest which relays i should test to see if there is a problem here firstly?. Thanks Graeme.
under the bonnet, the fuse box there, should be labled on the top of the cover which relay or fuse is which.. pull them out check the fuses arent blown, and maybe just swap say the horn relay or one of the same type and size.. if ur handy with a multimeter, check the voltage at the relays or at the plug on the fan.. find out if u have power
Yeah, check the relays, there are two of them, LO speed fan relay, and HI speed fan relay. Also check the coolant temperature sensor... Do the fans come on when you switch on the airconditioning?
problem solved. Thank s for the fast replies..... it was the 40A fuse in the small fuse holder forward of the main fuse box... couldn't read the sticker on it but on closer inspection the green fuse was blown... quick trip to autobarn and all is good..... I'm confident the reason it blew out initially was the dead short from contact with reo bar..... :yeah: Thanks Again. Graeme
