Hello all I'm new to the site and fixing cars, don't burn me please! haha
Iv'e been having a lot of problems with the cooling system with my missus VS statesman for the last couple of weeks I found out the water pump was buggered on it so i replaced that (witch took me a whole day may i add) haha. i did that right no worries didn't leak, car started no worries...took it for a spin still over heating...so something else was stuffed on it so i flushed the system, no blockage in the system changed the thermostat thats all sweet. Then yesterday after replacing the radiator cap coz the old one feel to pieces on me, i notice as i turned it on to run it to see if it would run hot, the thermo fan wasn't kicking in at all. Now from reading other posts on here i'm thinking its the relay? Or the fan itself is stuffed? Just wondering if anybody can tell me how to test the fan and test the relay? is it possible to hard wire the fan to a battery to test it?
Also is the relay for the thermo fan called the "low fan" coz there's a relay missing under the bonnet where it says "low fan" i'm not sure if its ment to be missing or not.
