looking around on ebay you can pick up 12-15" fans for damn cheap but not many come with shrouds or thermostats... how hard is it to get a fan on my car without the shroud and whats involved with hooking up the thermostat i could pick one up off ebay by itself or maybe hit up repco...

really keen to get rid of the clutch fan its so noisy

you should already have a thermostat in your car. You are probably talking about the temp sensor for the thrmo to cut in and out. Depending on what sender you buy, it will be different in the way it hooks up. Some have a little sesor on the end of copper wire that you put into your top radiater hose and some sensors screw into your radiater.
The shroud is the piece that stops you from putting your fingers into the fan. You shoulnt need one on but some pink slip people want them on. As long as the fan has a housing on it with mounting holes in it it should be easy to mount.
You dont have to put a temp sensor in(just have a toggle switch or have it on whenever the motors on) but it it easier than trying to remember to turn it on.
