Pre-covid could get a complete car...$1500 ls1/auto rough as guts statesmans & $2500 ls1/t56 is what I paid for running registered vy sv8.

You’d be better off either buying a wrecked car and using all the bits for the conversion which is a lot of work or selling your vx and buying an ss or similar that already has an LS v8 in it

Bit late to replying but as others have said, pre-covid an LS Swap would've been affordable but since covid lots of people are now using them in projects or now hording them which has driven the cost to a points its not a cheap option anymore. I was looking at LS swapping my VY last year before i decided it'd be more affordable to just sell it and pay a little more for a fully running LS1 powered vehicle. I got my Statesman for what most were selling just an engine + gearbox for and whilst its cost me even more now fixing it up I know its value now since has doubled.
