    Hi everyone,

A mechanic mate of the family has a vs in his workshop for sale. Dark metallic green fully stock standard immaculate interior and mech A1 reg serviced and logged. Front guard and both front 1/4 panels are damaged (only damage on the car) the owner ran up the back of a new ute and is not insured so needs to sell to fix other parties damage. South Aust plates (im in qld and so is car) The owner wants $1500 as is and the mechanic says i can have it for $3000 in total repaired and with roadworthy cert. Car has under 200,000k's
Having a look at it next week any comments would be helpful as i know not much about cars. Im driving a 1990 series 1 vn S pack at the moment (paid $1700 for it. Mods - full kit, mags, ss inductions intake extractors 2 1/2 cat back with tip also immobiliser. (so about $4500 spent total). Only thing wrong with it is it will need a new gearbox in about 12 months otherwise it is mech ok.

Should i be upgrading and mod up from scratch with the vs or best keep my money and buy reco gearbox and slowly restore and mod up the vn.

VN has done about 500,000k's came with sport susp from prev owner who were original owners it has only needed water pump, fuel pump, radiator and hoses. Everything else is original apart from filters exhaust and pads.

Mechanic has valued my VN at $5000 recons i could easily get $4000

Any suggestions or comments much appreciated

sorry mate, but i think that asking 5000 grand for a car thats done 500000km as asking a bit too much. Strip the car down and sell all the parts, you'll make more that way, cheers

Re the VS - make sure it isn't hot(stolen) from S.A. - apart from that, $3000 with a RWC is a good price for a VS under 200,000km...very good, but the story sound a bit dodgy......just check all angles before you lay out the cash.
