Hello, Whenever ive sprayed using acrylic whether primer or base, ive used a 1 1/2 to 1 ratio, or 3 to 2. That is if i wanted to have 500ml in the pot id use 300 thinner and 200 primer or base. So today Ive bought some primer/ filler and the can says thin up to 50%. Im confused lol does this mean its a 2 to 1 ratio? That would say 1 litre of primer/filler to 500ml thinners. So double the amount of primer to thinner? Many thanks!

Last thing I painted was with PPG delfleet.
3:1 paint/hardener and 10-15% thinner on top of that (from memory)

Your ratio's sound like major thinning out of the product.

I would suggest you try 25% thinner (not the full 50%) and once you get a hang of that, maybe pull it back to 15% thinner.

More parent material. Less vapour lock. Less run's. More build. Less opacity.

I agree with 50% being too much thinner for this . Ill try 25%. Upon opening the can its considerably less viscous than what ive used before. Thanks!

I find it depends a bit on the gun. If I use my touch up gun I have to go 50/50.

Yer 50% toooo much, too many coats/work needed.... 10to 25% thinning on thick primers depending which brand/cost used varies thickness hence the larger spray jet plus easier to cover/spread even with a smaller jet touch up gun for smaller areas/parts

yer agree, I do that for furniture wood grain a lot just to lay down a few thin layers and decrease ratios/thicken up for final colour coats
