Hi Guys,

I've inspected today my Throttle Body, and its pretty dirty.
Is there any issues with unbolting the 4 screws and cleaning the TB on the bench, instead of doing it whilst on the car?
It looks like cleaning on the bench would be better.

Thoughts please, thanks.

It clean up pretty good left on the car, just open the butterfly and give it a good spray.

I have a VE .. I've read that moving the butterfly manually may screw the throttle body. Its fly-by wire, not manual one ..!??

Remove it and do it on the bench,
Put it back on,

To reset idle Speed
Turn the ignition to on [engine off] and press the accelerator to the floor a couple of times,
or
And take the car for road-test, and the idle will reset.

You will notice how smooth it will idle and better response.

PS: I have done mine a number of times just to keep it clean.

Best to remove it as mention I just seen someone else's thread of cleaning it on the car and now having problems with his TPS.

I don't see any advantage of cleaning a throttlebody. Back when they used to have an IAC valve and solenoid I could see some use if you had idle issues but 99% of the time the IAC was stuffed.
Cleaning is a gimik all the TB does is move a butterfly valve. It's like trying to clean your sink tap for better flow.

Maybe you should try it sometime !
its like Magic
There a ways of checking if it needs to be cleaned with the naked eye,
But I wont pass that on, because you say it wont work and a gimik !
However, you answered your own stupid gimik statement with -
"It's like trying to clean your sink tap for better flow"
Hey, That's 100% correct, clean tap and pipes = better flow of water,
just like flushing the radiator and cooling system = better flow of water = system keeps cooler !
Clean TB, better flow of Air with no restriction around the throttle/butterfly,
Better flow of Air = better air and fuel mixture !
That will work, that means less fuel used = better fuel economy.
Better Fuel ecomommy = less fuel to buy = less money spent = saving money,
I think I am on to something here, a more efficient Car.

You need to find out how FBW throttle bodies work.
