i have a ticking noise when accelerating, could this be from a leaking exhaust where the y pipe connects to the header? by the way its a vn v6 series 2 5 speed. i only noticed this yesterday, after i got my car back from the mechanic, all i can say is he is a good mechanic. i asked for a heavy clutch and i got 1. did it cheap too and i can pay it off. but im thinking he may of accidentally forgot to tighten the exhaust manifold. i can hear it leaking on idle, sounds like a lawnmower crossed with a gemi.
Maybe a blown gasket is leaking the zorst and creating the ticking, orrr, is it the injectors. To test injectors get a flat head screwdriver, have you car turned on obviously, place the tip if the screwdriver on top of each injector and listen too see if the noise matches the one you are hearing.
nah definatly the extractors, mine have a leak welded em good then leaking again, sounds like an old v8 tick yeah???? just tighten up all the bolts or get the mech to do it
i dont really think its the injectors. the fact i just had a clutch put in and it happened strait away makes me think its the exhaust manifold even more. i tightened the bolts where it connects to the y peice on the drivers side, bloody pain to get to. especially being on the drivers side and having a clutch cable in the way. tomorrow i will put a new gasket between the head and the manifold and pull it off and also inspect it. cheers for the replys. its weird how a leaking exhaust manifold can cause a ticking noise. and yeah. it sounds like a v8 hotrod/crossed with a gemi. lol definetly not good
