hey everyone my VR SS 5L has just started making a ticking noise from the right hand side of the motor. its only noticable when i have my foot on the throttle not so much at idle. ive popped the bonnet and revved it up a little and it sounds like air being 'puffed' out but im not too sure and worried it could be engine noise of some sort.. it increases in speed as the revs go up also.

I had that sort of a noise in my VH, turned out to be exhaust manifold gasket, it had blown out.

I've got a similar, no where near as loud noise now in the VR, which I think might be the tapets.

I'd check the gaskets around the exhaust and go from there.

Use a piece of hose as a stethoscope and listen around the manifold, if it is leaking you will hear a pft pft sound through the hose.

My old VC had the same noise, had a small hole in the manifold.
