ticking noise from engine

    99 vt commodore acclaim
    when i first start the car and the engine is cold when i accelerate some where in the engine makes a ticking noise but after a few minutes when the engine has warmed up it doesnt do it anymore.. anyone no what it is ?? its a 99 vt commodore acclaim

    vt v6, mods(susp brakesetc...)
    timing chain clickin around at tensioner, lifters...

    would just check your oil level and maybe change it and the filter
    before stripping it down thats all!~

    this is the first time i used this website i dont no how to .. and its down towards the bottom right hand side of the engine .. i just got a new exhaust system put on it so it rules the exhaust out of the question ..

    mine does the exact same thing but only for like 30 seconds every morning when i first start it i have a vx berlina

    just because exhasut is new doesnt mean the gaskets anret leaking....

    As Mentioned, i would change the Oil & Filter, Go with a good grade oil. I just put in Semi syn 15w-60 Perite HPR. Solved my Lifters tapping at first startup :)

    Buy some good quality lifter free and injector cleaner and try using premium fuel I know it costs alot more but even if you fill the tank up once it will clean the system and make it perform a whole lot better.

    to be honest mine doesnt sound like a tapping it more sounds like its coming from the drive belt or something there then after 30 secs gone

    take the belt off then when its cold and see if noise is still there on start up....
