2005 vz equipped v6 commodore sedan
Hi I have a 2005 vz commodore v6 equipped
It's been making a ticking noise when idling and when I accelerate it ticking get faster and ticking noisier ?
Ticking is on drivers side sounds like ticking is coming from we're the exstractor joins to motor not a 100 percent but just seems to be were ticking is .
Has anyone got any idea on what it could be?
Also sometimes when I go to start the car there is nothing at all just lights on in dash just nothing give it a few try's and starts sometimes it just turns but doesn't start but seems to eventually start .
No indication on dash have lighting up either
Have checked oil
Just not sure what can be causing it ?
Also timing chain replaced 4 years ago
Had major service 10000 ago
If anyone can help shine some light on what they might know.
Thank u

Most likely an injector or a manifold leak.

Disconnect the injector to see if the noise goes.

Smoke test from exhaust pipe end to find leak in manifold.

It sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

You could throw a gasket at it, and enjoy life, or you'll likely find a crack in the manifold and then if you want to fix that then you'll need to either get it spray welded or extractors.

I had a ticking noise at idle turned out to be a crack around the exhaust cat.

Exhaust leak is easy to find..

Start the car and move your hand around the exhaust system, keeping it away from the system so you don't touch a hot exhaust pipe....

If it is leaking, you will feel hot air escaping.
