Hi Professionals.

Just wanted to ask for a second opinion on a timing belt replacement. Any recommendations on a very cheap mechanic who can replace this out in the western Melbourne suburbs?
Thanks guys

Can't help you with a mechanic (but cheapest generally isn't best...) however your SV6 will have timing chains.

Sorry to say, but it will be a $1000+ job which ever way you look at it.
Get them done by reputable shop.

Are you sure they even need doing? Any noise, or throwing any check engine light?
Is your engine making rattling noise (when you start your car? Hot or Cold) , also, any check engine symbol popping up on the dash? Or any P30x (multiple cylinder misfiring) errors code/s?
These are the obvious symptoms for stretched chain/s.
Just replaced mine,( due to bad rattling noise) parts alone cost me $500,very labour intensive job.
