this may be a bit of a lol subject, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to stop paint building up in the rim of your paint buckets and eventually stopping you from closing the lid.

so example. 4litres of putty, tip some into the mixing pot, get spillage down the side of the paint tin, wipe up the rim and side of the pot as much as you can with a rag, go to hit the lid back on, putty flies out everywhere and then after a few days glues to the lid, prize the lid open and a large bit of dry putty falls inside the tin.

Hammer and nail mate, just punch whole heap of holes as in pic. Paint gets forced back into tin and lid still seals.

as above or punch one hole in top of tin(as a breather) and one hole in side of tin on opposite side. This way you never have to actually take the lid off. When finished or when the tin needs a mix place some tape over the holes and shake or store it away. Works for me???
