What would happen if I mixed my 4:1 2k primer at probably 3:1? I have incorrectly used the measure cup and have added too much hardener. I used the diagram but should have just used the metric increments instead as I got confused. I have read it may not go hard. But if it does should I be ok?

I have gone through 1/3 of my primer but used about 1/2 my hardener, which does a full 1L tin. I'm painting my alloys and have etched them under the 2k primer.

I'd just run it , if I've got no fast acting hardener and it's a cold day sometimes I purposely put a splash more standard hardener in .

If you're really worried it pour it out into a bigger container and add some more primer to bring it back to 4:1.

Make sure you give it longer between coats though to gas out.

Otherwise it may stay soft for a few days which isn't a big deal. Just leave them for longer.

Don’t know about 2k paint but the small experiance I have with glass fibre glass resin will see more hardener causing the mix to set quicker without a huge issue seen in end results… And with glass resin, setting time is based on variables around the amount of hardener, the temperature and humidity. You add more hardener when colder and less when warmer. But I’ve not mixed hugely off ratio so can’t be certain how tolerant glass fibre resin is to big errors…

As for 2k paint, the following may or may not help

Probably a bit late now, but I would have just added a bit more primer to get the ratio back closer to recommend.

Otherwise as harrop.sen has suggested - more waiting between coats, or maybe more lighter coats overall. And leave a good long while to cure.
Like leave it a week before sanding.

Unfortunately had already laid I on prior to weighing the hardener tin and realising I had used too much. I will test it in a few days when I head back home. Hoping to sand it Friday night, and touch up any thin spots.

I might leave it for a bit longer maybe close to two weeks.

This. Always had a heap more heat too. I guess with 2K it’s just going to harden quicker with more catalyst.

Speaking of hardener, does Viagra work in the same way? Like the more you use, the harder it gets?
Speaking of Viagra, I tried one once. I didn’t swallow it fast enough and ended up with a stiff neck!
