Thought I'd start a thread after a suggestion from @Fu Manchu in another thread about tools....So great idea @Fu Manchu...

Do we think starting an individual section about tools would be beneficial? If it is, maybe @Darren could add in a sub section about tools

I did find these other individual threads

https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/tools-tool-brands.281824/

https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/tti-tools.270541/

https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/auto-electrician-tools.188746/

https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/tools.188102/

https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/apprentice-tools.137831/

So what do people think.....
I did try to add it as a poll, but buggered if I can figure out where I went wrong

I bought my first box of tools some forty years ago, nothing flash but I’ve still got them.

OK I'm bored and it's raining so I will take some guesses
1 Cannot tell the size so possibly for undoing caliper bolts
Maybe also ball joints
2 Compressing caliper pistons
3 Many uses. Used extensively in the 60's for holding exhausts up also holding boots/bonnets/doors closed as well as
welding wire.
4 and 5 Deer with no eyes, although I will swear I have had something like them in my younger days.

Not showing your special Holden distributor bolt tool?

the last one is for adjusting something that rotates and has holes around it and probably has a special factory tool. Something like the bearing hub on the IRS Commodore diffs?

It would be good to get some recommendations on what tool brand and what of those brands you can get away with a cheaper item.
Some say Toolpro spanners etc are decent if on a budget.
I have a few kits at home, which if I remember will post some photos as e en though I'm yet to use them the quality looks decent for a cheap item.

dizzy bolt doer/undoer? yup... first pic ;)

and good guess for the last one....

my version of timing chain tensioner holder for SAAB 9000 turbo engine
(necessary to remove hold the tensioner out of the way)

SAAB sell it.... trade for $137 (prolly more now, that was 15 years ago)
and that took me about 1/2hr, scrap steel bar and a couple of bolts and nuts
