BBC motoring presenter injured in crash

AP - The host of a BBC television show about automobiles was critically injured when the jet-powered car he was test driving at about 450 kph crashed, the network said.

The accident occurred when Richard Hammond, 36, the host of Top Gear, was racing the car down a runway at an unused Royal Air Force air field near York city in northern England and it overturned, police and the BBC said.

Hammond, who often drives high-performance cars for the show, was rushed in an air ambulance to a hospital in Leeds.




The accident occurred while he was filming for a future show.

i hope he recovers as the top gear trio are great together. i religiously watch that show. i've seen the earlier shows without him and they just aren't the same.

I hope he makes a speedy recovery too. The three of them together are excellent. Has anyone seen the shows with Chris Goffey and Steve Berry presenting? They were in the early 90's and so boring I suspect most viewers fell asleep at least once during the show. Nothing like the stuff they come up with now.

Yeah he is very lucky to still be alive after a crash at suck high speed....
He's a legend luv it when he pays out the old guy...especailly the one bout his GT40.....
Hopefully he will have a quick recovery n we will see him again soon....

I love Top Gear but I cant get SBS:bang: The best I get is watching clips on Youtube. The show wouldnt be the same without him.
