I think the episode with the ls2 monaro is on not this monday but the next on sbs 7:30pm. The guys at top gear know good cars and they know the monaro is a great car.

they don't think its a great car as such. they think it has a lot of power cheap. they hate the interior but they're used to european luxury.

They also like anything with a big engine.

Read any British car magazine, and you'll quickly realise that a two-liter engine is "big", and if you can swing something with a 3 liter V6, you're in a luxury sports saloon. The Jaguars with the 4.2 liter 6 and 5.3 liter V12 were seen as god-like. (of course, if they're talking about an E-type from before 1970 with a 6 cylinder, or maybe a Series One XJ6 4.2, they're right...:w00t: )

Cortinas are a prime example: over here, for example, a TE 1979 Cortina like I owned had a 4.1 liter x-flow six and four speed. The lower down models had a 2-liter OHC motor, again quite a good little lump. However, in England, that same car normally had an asthmatic little 1300cc Kent engine in it, and higher models had a 1600 Kent engine. If you were lucky and could spring for a luxury version, you'd get the mighty 2 liter OHC, and was seen as a "large famly car".

And if you were really lucky, you'd get a 2.3 litre 6 cylinder jobbie!

As for complaining about the Monaro, what is there to complain about?:D :D Oh, except if you had to keep putting fuel in it at UK prices! Apparently going to go up to around the $3 a litre mark in the near future!!!
