VR Berlina wagon.
G'day people. First time poster to this great forum.

I'm after a bit of advice. What I'd like to know is, would a VR Berlina V6 auto wagon be up to towing an 1983 XE Falcon sedan from the Gold Coast to North East Victoria. About 1500 kms. The wagon has a normal style towbar fitted (not Haymen Reece), and I don't know the load limit on the bar/ball unfortunately.
The Commodore is a bit heavier (1485 kgs) than the Falcon (1450 kgs) so thought this would be the better way to go.

Also, can someone in NSW tell me if this is even legal to do in that state.

Thanks.
Andrew

It would be capable but will have to work its ass off to pull it off, a 4WD would be more suitable.

Just make sure its had a good service before hand and is in A1 condition.

My towbar says its capable of 1250kg.

VR Berlina wagon.
Thanks for that mate.
Yeah, I sort of thought it might be a bit of strain on the wagon. Might have to bring them back seperately or think of something else. Maybe on the back of a truck might be a good idea.

ok the feild is split so i offer this solution;

take some random pics of the holden pulling the ford at the nastyest angles for shits and giggles, then keep the ford in 1 when towing the commodore, ride that redline and say the ****er just wont go any faster. extra points if you rig the speedo up with the tachometers wires. vroom vroom. yes very fast :p

VR Berlina wagon.
After looking at all the different suggestion of what to do, I think I'll drive one back & ship the other.

Don't want to stuff the motor in the Falcon either.

Now if I only still had either my '72 Fairlane 302V8 or '74 Statesman 308, this would be a no brainer on what to do. As you can see I'm one of those uncommon breeds that likes both Holdens & Fords. :yeah:

I'd offer to drive the commodore back for you and you drive the ford back. Only 1 condition.... you fly me back home to the gold coast... :p

Or you could buy a 1 way ticket to gold coast (very cheap) and drive the ford back.... that would be your cheapest solution.
