    Hiya Guys

This is my Daughters first car..She is very happy with it.Now when she switches it over to gas (Holden Fitted) the trac control (yellow) light comes up on the dash...

Ive tried to google trying not to waste your time but cant get an definitive answer on it.
I read somewhere although the lights on its still working in the background /????.I notice there a trac control switch on the left hand side of the centre console, never tried using that to see what happens i thought i would ask your thought first...

    Thanks

i read something somewhere thats due to how the traction control pulls out engine timing. when on gas if you pull timming you risk damaging the motor

With the old non-injected mixer setups (which your factory VT setup is) the traction control system is disabled when the car is running on LPG. That is why the Trac Off light comes up on the dash. A lazy (but unsatifactory) way is to take out the dash cluster bulb.

Your car's brakes (obviously) and ABS will still work as normal.

The traction control is disabled as a backfire can cause significant engine damage. I'm no mechanic, but my understanding is that traction control cuts power to cylinders when it's activated (i.e. heavy braking with ABS) which equals backfire. A backfire on LPG can be disastrous for the engine.

That's one of the many advantages of the newer injection setups (vapour or liquid) and the fact they don't backfire - the traction control is not disabled.

You could convert your VT to a vapour injection system (i.e. fit a "front end kit", you'd keep the existing LPG tank and lines). Cost me $3000 in 2010 (in Katoomba NSW) to do this to my VT L67 and i haven't looked back. But i'll be keeping my car for a long time yet, so it may not be worth it for you.

    Yea, to stop backfiring.
Hate lpg, helped my friend remove it from his car.. it had WAYYYY more power even on petrol when it was taken out.. as the lpg mixer is a huge restriction on airflow to the engine even on petrol.
