I'm a new member and looking for some help, I'm looking at a Clubsports R8 and thinking of trading in a VE Series 2 SSV 2011 with 60,000 on the clock. What price should I be looking at for a trade in or private sale in NSW. I normally purchase from one dealer but they don't do HSV. One dealer that does do HSV here has always offered around $4k less (than I got) when looking at trading my VX, VY, VZ and VE Series 1. Prices seem to be all over the place.
Search Carsales to determine what your car is worth. Take off maybe 15-20%. Changeover is the only figure that matters when buying a car. As long as your happy with that price, it's up to the dealer to fudge the figures to make his boss happy. Considering you've traded in a Vx, Vy, Vz and a Ve, you should know the drill by now...
unless your happy buying last years HSV, hold off doing any thing mate. also, unless you paid cash for your current VE, your gonna take it up the poop shoot. You wont get enuff to pay out the finance. Last years HSV's are as cheep as they are ever gonna be for sure.
Also, it's such a buyers market. I got a 2012 SV6 for 32k driveaway. You could probably get a demo HSV for nothing more than a quick wristy. Dealers want the current stock gone, ASAP.
If you trade it in you will NOT get what it is worth. Only way to achieve that price is a private sale. Remember when buying new do not pay Dealer Delivery. It is not a mandatory charge and dealers use it to rip buyers off. If they insist ask them to provide you with a detailed invoice of how they arrived at whatever they claim they are 'entitled to' (Dealer Delivery that is).
Don't be silly. Dealer delivery covers many things. Admin costs, transport, fuel, car wash, removing stickers, 3000km service, roadworthy (if applicable), mechanical check, fluids (not bodily). No matter how much you cry and jump up and down, no matter what deal you make, no matter how much hellfire you rain down upon them, there will be a Dealer Delivery figure on the paperwork.
OP is yours a sedan or ute? Just to put my 2c in I bought a 2011 Series 2 SSV Ute with 10'000km on the clock for $35'000 privately last November. And yes as Aussie Willy said, the bloke had finance that was more than I paid for the ute itself.
