Hey does anyone have any hints to what this could be.

When driving up hills (mainly) i put my foot down it drops back a gear (2nd?) no probs there but when it gets up around 4000grand it seems to hang in that gear and not want to upshift.
It doesnt seem to slip but just hang.
I take my foot off the pedal and then it decideds to upshift.
The trans is probably due for a service, but the oil seems a nice colour and doesnt smell burnt.

Anyone had similar problems

i reckon its normal both my vp and my vn do it and ive just had the transmission in the vn serviced.
although mine only went to about 3500 in the vp and about 3000 in the vn then it shifts anyway.

Have you got the power/economy switch on power? - this will cause it to hang on to gears longer.

Good fluid, all I know is Castrol and Valvoline Dexron III oils. I would love to know what the fluid brand was??

Well i went to an auto trans guy.
He plugged in the module.
codes 42 - elec spark timing bypass circuit fault
and 47 - crank angle reference signal
we went for a test drive, but didnt duplicate the conditons in which my problem occurs.
Read all the results and everything seemed ok.
Reset the codes and just recommended a service.
so i dont know what the deal is with those codes are as they are indirectly trans related. the crank angle sensor may have a part in it!?
Drove home everything AOK.
Will keep my eye on any codes that come up in the future and get it serviced asap.

Ok- but its a little left of centre for most psople

PM Lubricants. Aussie mob, started making lubes & hydraulic fluids for mining and agricultural.

Best thing is I got my tranny serviced, which used 18 litres for the full flush, but every 20 000k's they test the fluid for free, so at least you know if you need to dump the fluid, or if its ok

Just wish I had a temp guage fitted to compare before/ after temps because that would have been interesting....

New fluid and especially a new filter will make em change smoother, when going up hill your vacum is low that's why if you take off your foot it upshifts, it's likely OK, but change the fluid and filter, just remember that once you drop the pan there is 3+ litres of usually dark oil in the converter, so grab a suction pump and remove say 5 litres from the filler tube and replace the same amount with new fluid, good chance there is more good than bad ATF in there when done.
