Ok so im not talking about how depressed my transmission is, as you would have gathered.

I have recently bought a trans and engine off of Jecs from this forum, all in all he gave a me a reasonably good deal, stillw aiting to hear back from him again but enough said about that.

My current transmission when driving along in between 100 and 110 kind of does something odd, it feels like it is changing a gear almost it is so sublte only I the driver have ever noticed, I ask passengers, did you feel or hear anything? to which they always reply, no, I ask them to keep an eye, ear and everything else open ( :D ) for it.

Yet they can never tell, its kind of wierd I guess and I lack the technical expertise to explain it.

My mecahnicn outright refuses to salvage the shift kit from the trans I got if my trans is playing up, oh he would probably pull it out for me, but I doubt he would install it ona sick trans, his a good bloke like that, wont let me send my trans and myself to doom.

If anyone has an inkling of what im rambeling about? anyone has had similar wied things and figured it out, throw out the symptoms of your trans and what it was, im hopeing it aint burnt out or worn clutches.

Sounds like the torque converter isn't locking up properly. I'm sure others would probably be able to back me up here.

yeah sounds like the converter playin up. do the revs drop or raise when this happens? if it does, and it's by only 500rpm roughly, then it's definitely the converter. have you checked for codes at all?

Should start locking at 80, not 100. Could be the torque converter.

Are you feeling any odd vibrations as well while it locks??

Your description - "it feels like it is changing a gear almost it is so sublte only I the driver have ever noticed" - indicates it may only do this once. If this assumption is correct then it is normal operation where the Torque Converter Clutch locks the converter solid to avoid fuel-wasting slip. The TCC will unlock if you alter the throttle setting or the engine starts to slow as you go up a hill.....and then lock when again above 80kph on a constant throttle setting.

Watch the revs while you drive and see if they drop when it does it. I take it you have done a code check? If there was a fault in the TCC circuit it would throw a code.

I'm with everyone else, TC lockup, normal.

Mine locks at 90km and sits roughly at 1500rpm, better fuel consumption than driving at 70km, 80km! Even slower...
Maybe mate you got the power button on or something...lol

not much if any change in revs, from what has been said im feeling more and more like it is normal, ive decided to wait on Jecs to get his 8 cyl going before I drop my setup in anyway so as to save him a roadworthy, my car is going into my mechanics and my garage for a while, I will need a new roadworthy so expect a few more threads started.

No vibrations either by the way, nor any noises, just a change in the way the forward momentum feels if that helps.

no I dont need one for the engine swap. but you need a roady to register the car, as I will be letting the rego run out I will need to get a roady done when I re-register.
