Hi I am hoping one of you guys can help me out. I have a massive trans leak from the pan gasket. I replaced the gasket but its still pouring out. I am not %100 sure how that stupid half round thing goes I cant remember the name of it. Itn goes between the trans and motor. I think that is what is causing the problem it seems to be a bit bent out of shape PLZ PLZ can someone help me with this.

the round thingy that cover the torque converter is the dust shield. it shouldn't effect the sump pan/gasket.

what type of gasket have you used? if you over tighten it you can squeeze the gasket out causing a leak.

are you certain that it's leaking from the sump gasket?

You could have a dead torque converter seal or front trans seal. Get a quote from a trans specialist to fix it, depending on the state of the torque converter and the pump you could be up for $1000 to 1500.
If they are talking that kind of money I'd start looking in the parts for sale forum for a trans to swap in or a 5 speed conversion.
My own experience saw the cost climbing from a few hundred to over a grand as problems were uncovered. If I'd known upfront I would have gone with a manual conversion.

Hello crappy VN driver. I bought a gasket and filter from car parts plus. Yes I am certain its leaking from the sump gasket %100. I think I have overtightened it now. I was hoping that might stop the leak but it didnt. I didnt put the dust sheild on properly coz when I started it up it was makin a hell of a noise but the leak had gone but once I fitted it correctly the leak started. Does the lip of the dust cover tuck under the sump gasket or what? Will I be able to reuse the gasket or would it be useless now?

you may need to pull the sump off and check the gasket. really depends on how much you over tightened it.
