You can build the 4l60e into a reasonable box for around $1500 plus fitment.

Get another second hand box from vy-vy Ecotec. They’re the same trans.

If you’re having troubles in 2nd, you’ll generally have the same issues in 4th because it’s related to the 2/4 apply piston and how it applies the band. Band could be worn, piston may be damaged, housing may be cracked, accumulator may be damaged or leaking, vb gasket may be damaged.

Most likely just a worn band if it slips when going into second though. Whichever way it’s failed, most cost effective option is to replace with a good second hand transmission. Usually $100-300 with warranty depending where you go. Plus fitment of course.

Maybe a good idea to get a S/Hand Transmission, get it services before you install it,
then install it and see how it goes,
The L67 Transmission is a slightly different one to a stock tranny, but a STD one will get you going again.

I said it in post #3, those are really the only ones worth looking at. You won't be able to run any automatics with more than 4 gears on your stock ECU and there aren't any that will straight bolt up. There are not a lot of options for the Ecotec, auto or manual, even with adaptor plates, and TBH there doesn't really need to be, they're all pretty good boxes (maybe bar the Getrag) and all really common.

Like I said, when was the last time you changed the oil? Have you done any trouble shooting at all?

Getrags are alright if so the bushings and aren't savage on them.

I have a spare l67 4 speed and converter in Perth.
