Not sure, he said it was an electrical fault or something like that, so I dont think he had to take the gearbox off at all, or Im sure he would have charged me. Cant hurt to take it into a gearbox specialist or something :)

Is that solenoid inside the transmission - i mean would the gearbox still need to be removed from the car to replace that solenoid?

Thanks for all the input guys/gals I really appreciate the response's from the community..

Yes the solenoid is in the box but u don't have to pull transmission out just drop the pan.

unfkingbelievable!!

I asked a mechanically minded mate to come round today and help me pull out the gearbox, as the wreckers prices where exchange.. so out with box was the only decission, bought a Gregorys Manual to boot..

reveresed the car up the drive way to put it on the ramps, mate of mine mentioned (fk ecu cars, to hard to work on - get a carby car pre 90's), so im listening to him talk tech and recall Doctor Bob mentioning check fuses <- I thought pfft yeah right - but checked anyway? SO WHAT HAPPENS I CHECK THE FUSES UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AND FK ME THERE A FUSS DEDICATED TO THE TRANSMISSION (15AMP) "AND ITS BLOWN!!" SO I REPLACE IT AND ENGINE LIGHT HAS DISAPPEARED - GEARBOX IS WORKING GOOD AS EVER...

Thank you Doctor Bob.. you just saved me $500-$1000 - I cant believe it I feel like a total fool - I been hitching to work and back for the last two weeks saving cash for another box and everything... I feel so good right now

I just wanted to let everyone who replied to this topic and suggested ideas that I really appreciated your help.. and to the others who have similar problems, I cross my fingers for you and hope it is only a fuse.

thanks again everyone.

NIELO

ps. I still logged errors 67 and 68 in my gearbox, thats 2 less than before but the car drives great, i will have it checked next week and from now on I will carry a spare transmission fuse in the glove box - just incase.

check the fuses, the most common cause for logging all these together is a blown fuse.

Congrats mate. Good to hear. Dr. Bob is a highly respected member on here, only a fool would dismiss his advice.

My missus drove the car and blew another fuse today, just wondering what might be causing the fuse's to blow, could this be related to a solenoid in the transmission pan?

Code 67 - TCC ON-OFF Solenoid Control Circuit - Auto Transmission Only
Code 68 - Transmission Component Slipping - Auto Transmission Only

could be the wiring harness in the trans, or one of the solenoids, see if you can pinpoint exactly when the fuse blows, like when you get to cruise speed etc, this may help locate the fault.
