Had the car at the tyre shop and they pointed out that when you spin the back wheels forward while the trans is in neutral the trans whines.
Spinning them backwards and it doesnt.
Spin them fast and it goes away.

    Anyone have any ideas?

TBH I don't think this is unusual. A automatic transmission has lots of moving parts inside that you are turning over sans the benefit of pressurised lubrication so I would expect a little noise. Fairly much any gearbox/transmission is going to make noise when it turns.

Does the trans make weird noises when you drive it? Does it do odd things? How does the fluid look/smell ( I don't recommend tasting....)?

If it does everything it's supposed to when driving then I think you have nothing to worry about.

Drives fine. Can't hear any noises. Shifts well cant complain other than the noise when its on the hoist.
Haven't heard any car do it before.

I'll keep watch on it. But as you said it could be nothing to worry about.
    Cheers
