Hy all. I've just got the last bolt tightened up on a vx engine swap. Now I've hit a new issue. I can't get the car to crank over by the key. I have uncapped the starter relay and can get it to crank over and almost fire, but when I turn the key, I get nothing. Anyone got any idea what this could be? If it helps, it's got an after market siren that goes off if I open the door with the battery connected. And the factory key head won't lock/unlock the doors. it's never needed an after market remote before (started fine when I brought it over here to do this damned job). Any ideas would be appreciated.

Wait, so you took the engine out of the donor car but didn't change the BCM over?

Nope. Figured the sensors are all the same on each engine. Only the engine was changed. Transmission is original

Just checked in the shed. When I stripped my brothers totalled vx, I was lucky enough to grab both the ecu bcm and key head. Lol. Guess that was lucky

You need to link the engine to the BCM. Anti-Theft measure.

What bout the ECu and bcm that originally were with this engine. Will they work?

Yes they will, but you still need to link your keys to the new BCM

the original BCM and ECU should work fine with "new" engine
try disconnecting battery for five minutes then reconnect and try locking/unlocking with remote
